
MOSCOW, June 29 Russian Diving Champion Maria Polyakova elected in the commission of athletes of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), according to the website of the organization. Polyakova joined the commission from diving. Aliya Atkinson (Jamaica), four-time world champion in short course, became the head of the commission of athletes, and British Olympic champion Jack Lo became the deputy head. The commission also included, in particular, world champion American Bill May (synchronized swimming), Olympic champions Brazilian Ana Marcela Cunha and Dutchman Ferry Wertman (all open water swimming), two-time world champion Swedish Teresa Alshammar, two-time Olympic silver medalist from Siobhan Bernadette Hoey of Hong Kong, the winner of the Games Kazakhstani Dmitry Balandin and 13-time World Cup champion South American Matthew Seyts (all — swimming). Polyakova won gold in diving from a meter springboard at the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow. She also became the winner of the European Games — 2015 in Baku.
