"You know, frankly, at this stage, we do not see the possibility for both sides to reach a peace agreement — which, I think, is obvious to everyone,» Haynes said, speaking as part of a discussion on national security challenges hosted by Google.
Haynes did not elaborate on what she believes the forecast was based on. On Wednesday, her White House colleague John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the US National Security Council, issued a statement that Washington did not sees Moscow's interest in a peaceful dialogue with Kyiv. In this regard, Kirby noted, the United States and its allies intend to continue military assistance to Ukraine. At the same time, the White House representative evaded a direct answer to the question of whether the United States considers it realistic to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine by the end of this year.
