In St. Petersburg, in the 1st Naval Clinical Hospital, parents and a lawyer were not allowed to see hockey player Ivan Fedotov, who became ill in the military registration and enlistment office. Lawyer Alexei Ponomarev told TASS about this.
25-year-old Fedotov, the goalkeeper of the Russian national hockey team, was detained by police on July 1 at the exit from the ice arena in Kupchin and taken to the military registration and enlistment office. Fontanka's source claimed that the prosecutor's office considers him an army evader. In the evening, Fedotov was taken away from there in an ambulance.
The hockey player “gastritis worsened against the background of nervous stress,” the lawyer said. He continues the examination, and the exact diagnosis has not yet been established.
“Doctors refuse to conduct any negotiations, referring to employment. There are always military police officers who also refuse to give any comments,” Ponomarev added.
On July 1, the lawyer appealed to the Vsevolzhsky District Court of the Leningrad Region the decision of the draft commission to call Fedotov for service and it was suspended . According to him, after that, the hockey player «should have been released or sent to a civilian hospital.»
May 7, Fedotov, who previously played for the CSKA hockey club, signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers NHL club. His agreement with CSKA expired at the end of April.
