Archival photo ROME, July 3 Six people became victims of the collapse of a part of a glacier in the Dolomites in northeastern Italy, the mountain rescue service of the Veneto region told RIA. Earlier it was reported about 5 dead and seven injured. The collapse of the glacier caused an avalanche of snow, stones and ice that covered the mountainside, along which several groups of tourists climbed to the top. 8 people were injured, one of them is in serious condition. The search for a dozen more people continues. Rescue work is complicated by the risk of new collapses. Helicopters and cynologist teams are on the scene. The victims were taken to hospitals in the neighboring cities of Bolzano, Trento, Belluno and Treviso. According to local media, record temperatures of 10 degrees above normal were recorded in the Marmolada region the day before.
