
MOSCOW, July 4 The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will triple the amount of financial assistance to Ukrainian athletes, according to the organization's website. The IOC aid fund for Ukrainian athletes will amount to $7.5 million. In May, the head of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Olympic pole vault champion Serhiy Bubka, at a meeting of the IOC session, said that the organization had provided assistance to Ukrainian athletes in the amount of $2.4 million. It is noted that Bubka will still remain the coordinator of the fund. On Sunday, the head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, visited the Olympic Training Center in Kyiv and met with the athletes of the Ukrainian national team. At the end of February, the IOC recommended that international sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions because for the situation in Ukraine. A number of international federations excluded Russians and Belarusians from competitions under their auspices, and also canceled the competitions in Russia, other federations allowed athletes in a neutral status.
