MOSCOW, July 7 Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina beat Romanian Simona Halep (16 seeded) in the semifinal match of Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the season. The meeting ended with a score of 6:3, 6:3 in favor of Rybakina, seeded 17th. In the final, Rybakina will play against the Tunisian tennis player Ons Jaber (3rd seed), who beat German Tatyana Maria in the semifinals. Rybakina is a native of Moscow, until 2018 she represented Russia . In June 2018, she changed her sports citizenship to Kazakh. Rybakina reached the final of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career. Wimbledon, held on grass courts in the suburbs of London, will end on July 10th. In April, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) refused to allow Russian and Belarusian tennis players to the tournament because of the situation in Ukraine. In response, in May the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) decided not to award Wimbledon ranking points.
