MOSCOW, July 11, Oleg Bogatov. The situation with sending the goalkeeper of the Russian national team Ivan Fedotov in a military unit is unlikely to become a precedent, you can find options in which the hockey player could play again, said Vladimir Krikunov, Honored Coach of Russia. Earlier, members of the military registration and enlistment office detained Fedotov. The goalkeeper, after the end of the season in the Continental Hockey League (KHL), where he played for CSKA Moscow, signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). At the moment, the athlete is in a military unit. “I think that this is not such a big problem and it is completely solvable,” said Krikunov, answering the question of whether this situation would become a dangerous precedent. “Fedotov, perhaps out of the blue could invent a conflict. I guess that's the whole point. If he calmly resolved differences, then this situation would not have come to a similar situation. Although, of course, we do not know many details. Surely there were some agreements about how to finish the game contract with CSKA until the end. But he rested — I don’t want to play and that’s all. But at a professional level, it doesn’t happen like that. «Of course, a year without playing practice is hard, but talk, look for options,» the expert added. «I think that it is possible to take Ivan away from the unit and allow him to play. You can always find common ground. What kind of club do we have today delays players? None. Probably, it had to be done somehow. But we don’t know all the nuances, and Ivan in this situation, they indicated his month then. I'm 100 percent sure it's more of his fault. If he had not rested, had not behaved inappropriately, then this would hardly have happened. I always said: the sooner we let the guy go, the sooner he will understand whether he is needed in the NHL or his place is here.
