MOSCOW, July 20, Oleg Bogatov. Russian chess player Sergey Karyakin stated that President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Viner-Usmanova, in her speech, confirmed his idea of the need to create new international organizations in the context of the exclusion of Russian athletes from participating in competitions on the world stage. In late February — early March, many international federations, following the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee, introduced a ban on the participation of Russians in international competitions due to a special operation in Ukraine. Viner-Usmanova said on Tuesday that the Russian community should develop sports relations within the framework of the BRICS alliance and can hold club competitions. Karjakin previously said that he intended to create an organization that would be an alternative to the International Chess Federation (FIDE). «Yesterday I read an interview with our wonderful Irina Aleksandrovna Viner-Usmanova, in which she laid out the situation in both international and Russian sports. And she fully confirmed my thoughts are about the need to create new federations and new competitions within friendly countries — BRICS and so on,» Karjakin told reporters.
