Igor Yurgens. Archival photoMOSCOW, July 25 The head of the All-Russian Union of Insurers and the Russian Union of Motor Insurers, Igor Yurgens, told RIA Novosti that he could not get to the Baltic Forum in the Baltic States, as he refused to sign a document proposed by the Latvian side condemning the actions of the Russian and Belarusian authorities in Ukraine.

"I was handed a document in which I should have condemned the government of Russia and Belarus for their actions in Ukraine. I refused. I was handed a note stating that I am a threat to national security in Latvia. That was the end of the dialogue", he said.

«How can I sign such a document?! Am I non-Russian or something?» — he said, answering the question why he did not sign the Latvian document. As Yurgens specified, this incident took place on July 22 on the border between Belarus and Latvia. On the part of Belarus, this border checkpoint is called Urbany, on the part of Latvia — Silene. «It lasted four hours, I was expelled, I went back to Belarus and returned to Moscow through Belarus,» he added.
