TOKYO, Jul 26 Prosecutors raid the home of a former executive Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics Organizing Committee Haruyuki Takahashi, who is suspected of receiving a large bribe, Kyodo reported. The former head of the organizing committee of the Tokyo Games is suspected of taking a bribe in the amount of 45 million yen, which was about 400 thousand dollars at the exchange rate at that time, and about 330 thousand dollars at the current exchange rate. The investigation believes that the company, headed by Takahashi, received this amount from the sponsors of the Olympics — the men's and office clothing company AOKI — under a consulting contract. Around the same time, AOKI was awarded a contract to tailor official costumes for the committee and use Olympic symbols. The director of the organizing committee, as a civil servant, according to the criminal code, is not entitled to receive remuneration for activities related to his work. This is also prohibited by the International Olympic Committee.
