File photoWASHINGTON Aug 9 The United States is imposing visa sanctions on 100 Belarusian officials and associates for alleged involvement in «undermining the country's democratic institutions,» US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Tuesday. Today, we are announcing steps to impose visa restrictions on 100 Belarusian government officials and their associates for engaging in undermining or damaging democratic institutions or obstructing Belarus's transition to democracy,» Blinken said in a circulated written statement. American diplomacy, employees of the presidential administration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Committee, the Central Executive Committee, the investigative committee, the Ministry of Transport of Belarus, as well as representatives of the armed forces of the republic and a number of other persons fell under the new visa restrictions. «This list also includes members of parliament, district judges, employees security services, members of the executive committees and heads of state universities,» Blinken added.
