MOSCOW, September 24 Two-time biathlon world champion from the Czech Republic Gabriela Soukalova held night in the Italian Alps after getting lost while mountain biking, according to the Italian edition of La Provincia di Sondrio. The former athlete was reported to have gone on an excursion near Livigno on Wednesday, but lost her bearings in the late afternoon, before dark. She called emergency services, but due to the low battery of her mobile phone, rescuers were unable to pinpoint her exact location. Soukalova, who spent the night in the open air, was found unharmed only the next morning at an altitude of 2270 m by loud screams. World Cup winner Soukalova is 32 years old. She completed her sports career in 2019. The biathlete won two silver medals at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.
