Rosstat has stopped publishing information on deaths from coronavirus due to «an obvious decrease in the number of deaths of those who have been diagnosed with the virus,» RBC reports, citing the agency.
“All the previous time, these data were important and in demand by journalists and the expert community due to the large number of deaths from coronavirus infection,” the officials added.
Rosstat has been publishing these data since the second quarter of 2020. Mediazona used the department's information in a study on excess mortality in Russia due to the epidemic.
