The Oktyabrsky District Court of Izhevsk sentenced the person involved in the «January case» Anastasia Ponkina to two years probation. This is reported by the activist herself in her telegram channel.
The girl was found guilty in the case of hooliganism motivated by political hostility (paragraph «b» of part 1 of Article 213 of the Criminal Code).
Verdict after a year and a half. In Izhevsk, a participant in a rally in support of Navalny received a suspended sentence
A criminal case against Ponkina was opened in March 2021. The reason was a rally in support of Alexei Navalny on January 23, 2021. According to the prosecution, the activist “held a public mass event on the roadway on Pushkinskaya, Sovetskaya, Kommunarov and Krasnoarmeyskaya streets” in the center of Izhevsk. In the case file, the investigator noted that Ponkina wrote about the rally on social networks, and on the appointed day she came to the gathering place and shouted that she needed to go out into the street and “show who is in power here.” The damage from the actions of the girl was estimated at 4,367 rubles. According to the prosecution, the protest prevented the movement of four trolleybuses.
While the investigation was going on, Ponkina was under house arrest.
After the rallies on January 23 and 31, dozens of administrative and criminal cases were initiated throughout Russia under various articles. In Yekaterinburg, two activists were sent to a colony-settlement for throwing a smoke bomb at the police, a resident of Kazan received 1.5 years of probation in the case of incitement to extremism, and in Omsk, Abakan, Kemerovo, Ufa and other cities hundreds of thousands of rubles were collected from the protesters for police work.
