The arson occurred on the night of September 25. According to the interlocutors of the publications, 33-year-old Mikhail came to Syaskelevo to visit his mother. In the village, he learned that several of his childhood friends had received summons for mobilization. The man took part in seeing off friends. After drinking alcohol, he felt sorry for his friends, and he decided to set fire to the building of the local administration, from where summons to the draft board came. Mikhail threw Molotov cocktails through the window on the first floor of the building, after which he returned to his friends. The next morning, he burned his clothes in the forest, covering his tracks.

According to the information of Online47, as a result of the fire, the premises of the social protection of the administration of Syaskelevo completely burned out. Evening Petersburg writes that the damage caused is estimated at one million rubles.

The police opened a case on the deliberate destruction or damage of another's property (Article 167 of the Criminal Code).

After the announcement of the mobilization, attempts to set fire to administrative buildings and military registration and enlistment offices were made in different parts of Russia — Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Kaluga and Kaliningrad regions. In Bashkortostan, tires were set on fire near the United Russia branch.
