The Perm branch of the HSE decided to close the Digital Humanities master's program, the head of which Dinara Gagarina opposed the war; a few days earlier, she had been removed from her leadership position. She told about this on Facebook.
Gagarina noted that she was ready to be removed from the leadership, as she “did not live in a vacuum and understood the risk of being removed from the program for anti-war texts.” However, she did not find a «rational explanation» of the reasons for the complete closure of the program.
In addition, according to the HSE employee, a similar story happened earlier. In October last year, she was offered to convert the previously existing Digital Humanities Center into an institute. Gagarina and her team were given funding, after which they «did a great job with colleagues and the administration.» However, in July, on the day when the news about the opening of the center was supposed to come out, she was told that this would not happen.
“The explanations of the reasons were confusing, but the phrase: “We respect your political position” stuck in my memory,» Gagarina added.
As the university employee clarified, then she did not «take dirty linen out of public life», as she was afraid for the magistracy, «for the students who believed and trusted.» She also did not want to set her colleagues up.
Mediazona told the story of Maria Rakhmaninova, a teacher at St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise, who on February 24 began talking to students about the war. Soon the leadership of the university forbade doing this, explaining that «the university is out of politics», but within the walls of the educational institution they began to broadcast a video about the imminent death of the «fascist state of Ukraine». Then the teacher decided to quit.
«The situation is intolerable». Departure of teachers, deductions and lectures in support of the «special operation» — what is happening in one university in St. Petersburg
