File photoMOSCOW, Oct 14The State Migration Service (SMS) of Ukraine refused to provide information to the official request of the Ukrainian News publication about the citizenship of opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk, the answer was argued by the confidentiality of personal data. «The agency asked the migration service if the president (Vladimir Zelensky — ed.) terminated Medvedchuk's citizenship and whether the deputy himself applied for renunciation of citizenship. The State Migration Service replied that, in accordance with the first and second parts of Article 32 of the Constitution of Ukraine, no one can interfere in his personal and family life, except in cases provided for by the Constitution of Ukraine,» reports edition.
Medvedchuk's lawyer spoke about the attitude towards Russians in Ukrainian prisons. The agency's response states that confidential information in accordance with the laws of Ukraine «On Information» and «On the Protection of Personal Data» can be distributed with the consent of the person concerned. The State Migration Service also added that the processing of personal data is carried out for specific and legitimate purposes determined with the consent of the subject of personal data. «Given the above, it is not possible to provide the requested information,» the migration service added. Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk was handed over to the Russian side as a result of an exchange of prisoners with Ukraine. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in April announced the detention of Medvedchuk on behalf of Volodymyr Zelensky. On October 8, 2021, Ukrainian law enforcement officials announced another suspicion of treason and assistance to terrorism to Medvedchuk.
