File photoMOSCOW, Oct 14The UK is gradually phasing out the Homes for Ukraine program, leaving refugees from the republic on the streets, the Daily Mail writes. The scheme was launched in the kingdom in March. According to it, British families accept refugees from Ukraine, and in return the authorities pay them monetary compensation — 350 pounds (about 24,500 rubles. — Ed.). As stated by the Local Government Association (LGA), recently more and more Ukrainians are applying to them, being on the street. The government also claims that they are trying to increase the number of program participants who accept refugees. Now almost two thousand Ukrainian families have become homeless due to the gradual curtailment of the program. At the same time, about 97 thousand refugees arrived in Britain. According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, from February 24 to August 30, more than seven million refugees from Ukraine arrived in European countries.
