Scandalous US chess player demands $100 million from Carlsen

MOSCOW, Oct 20 American chess player Hans Niemann announced on Twitter that he had filed in court against the reigning world champion Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, who accused him of cheating. In September, the Norwegian withdrew from the final stage of the Grand Chess Tour in St. Louis, USA, after losing to Niemann. As reported by the Norwegian edition of VG, he made such a decision, as he suspected his rival of fraud. Carlsen faced Niemann again on September 19 at the online Champions Chess Tour and decided to resign after two moves of the game. The chess.com portal also suspected Niemann of cheating in more than 100 online games. Niemann published a lawsuit filed in the Missouri District Court (USA), which lists Carlsen and his company Play Magnus Group as defendants, the chess website .com and its head Danny Rensch, as well as the American chess player Hikaru Nakamura, who accused Niemann of cheating. The 19-year-old chess player demands $100 million for damage to his reputation. Niemann himself has previously denied allegations of cheating, although he admitted that he had broken the rules at least twice in the past: at the age of 12 in an online tournament, and also at the age of 16 in unrated game during the stream.
