
CAIRO, Dec 7 Leader of the Turkish Innovation Party (Yenilik) and MP Özturk Yılmaz was injured on Wednesday as a result of an attack by an unknown person with a knife, NTV channel reports.
An unknown person came to the party office in Ankara to meet with Yılmaz, but unexpectedly stabbed him twice in the right leg. The politician was hospitalized, the attacker is being sought.
According to the channel, Yilmaz previously held a number of positions in the Turkish embassies in Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, and in the representation to the EU. In 2014, Yılmaz, then head of the Turkish Consulate General in Mosul, was kidnapped by militants of the Islamic State (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) and held hostage for 101 days.
