MOSCOW, Dec. 12 Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov expects that Kiev will receive the Patriot air defense system «at the next stage».
According to him, Kiev is in lengthy discussions with «partners» about these systems, since they are complex and expensive.
«Today we have more than eight various systems… I think that the Patriot will also be on our battlefield, but at the next stage,» Reznikov said on CNN.
Earlier, German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht announced an agreement with Polish colleague about the patrolling of Polish airspace by German Eurofighter fighters and the deployment of Patriot air defense systems in the country. After that, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, chairman of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party Jarosław Kaczynski and Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak came up with the idea of deploying German Patriots in Ukraine. Berlin ruled out such a possibility, and the parties began work on the deployment of the Patriot in Poland.
