VIENNA, Dec 28 Only 26% of Austrian citizens believe in tomorrow, such a low figure (less than 30%) in the traditional pre-New Year survey is recorded for the third time in a row, which has not been observed in the republic since the start of the survey in 1972, the sociological institute IMAS reported.
For a traditional study before the New Year, IMAS interviewed 1002 Austrian citizens aged 16 and over, interviews were conducted from November 9 to December 1.
According to the study, 32% are skeptical, more than a third expressed concern about the development of the situation next year. The majority of those polled consider inflation and the rise in the cost of living to be the most important problem in the near future.
As for wishes for the next year, a quarter of the respondents said that they wish, first of all, health for themselves and their loved ones. More than 20% would like their personal life situation to turn out well, 16% long for peace in Ukraine and an end to inflation. Only 2% have included environmental and climate protection on their wish list.
