Kyiv plans to create backup power generation

MOSCOW, Jan 8 Alexander Kharchenko, Director of the Ukrainian Energy Research Center said that by mid-February it is planned to create a backup generation for Kyiv to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and heat to the city.
«If everything can be done as planned, then from mid-February Kyiv will still have any blackout. Kyiv will stand still. Certain things must be done. It will take time,» Kharchenko said on the air of the All-Ukrainian telethon.
According to him, we are talking about backup generation of water utilities and thermal stations. Over time, a similar scheme is planned in other large cities of Ukraine. Kharchenko noted that at the moment Kyiv is one of the most energy-deficient regions.

Attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure of the RF Armed Forces began on October 10 — two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, behind which, according to the Russian authorities, the Ukrainian special services stand. The strikes are carried out on energy, defense industry, military command and communications facilities throughout the country. After the strikes on November 15, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that almost half of the country's energy system was disabled. In December, Volodymyr Zelensky said that it was now impossible to completely restore the energy system of Ukraine.
