The Saratov Garrison Military Court has given Yevgeny Golygin, a contract serviceman, a year of probation in the case of the unauthorized abandonment of a unit for several days during the period of mobilization. This was reported by the press service of the court.
Judge Vladimir Lisitsyn also appointed the military a year of probation. On December 29, he found Golygin guilty of Part 2.1 of Article 337 of the Criminal Code, the maximum punishment for which is 5 years in prison (the terms under this article were tightened in September 2022 after the announcement of “partial mobilization” in Russia). It is not known what became mitigating circumstances in the case of the contractor. The verdict came into force today, but its text has not been published on the court's website.
The press service writes that in September 2022, Golygin, «knowing for certain» about the beginning of mobilization, «did not show up for service in a military unit without good reason, but instead began to live in the city of Volsk, Saratov Region, spending time as you wish.» According to the court, the military «wanted to rest and live a civilian life.»
In October, Golygin voluntarily returned to the military commandant's office in Volsk. At the meeting, he fully admitted his guilt.
According to Mediazona's estimates, from January to early December 2022, Russian courts received 948 cases of unauthorized abandonment of the unit. Against the background of the war, there were more of them than in 2021.
