
PRAGUE, Jan 28 Army General Petr Pavel in the lead with 56.1% of the vote in the second round of the Czech presidential election, based on data counts from 75% of polling stations, the Czech Statistical Office said.
«Ex-Prime Minister Andrei Babish is in second place, he has 43.9% of the vote,» the report says.
The second round of the Czech presidential elections took place on January 27-28. According to preliminary data, the turnout was 69.7%. To win the election, one of the contenders is enough to get a simple majority of votes. The inauguration of the new president of the Czech Republic will take place on March 8.
