ROME, Feb. 7 The court of Rome sentenced Rasul, a native of Chechnya, in absentia Bisultanov to 23 years in prison for the murder of an Italian citizen at a disco in Spain, according to Corriere Fiorentino.
The prosecutor's office demanded a life sentence for a native of Chechnya.
Last July, a Spanish court sentenced Bisultanov to 15 years in prison, however, as reported, the Chechen escaped punishment. His lawyer at the meetings said that he did not know about the whereabouts of the client.
In August 2017, 22-year-old Niccolò Chatti was beaten to death at a disco in the Spanish resort town of Lloret de Mar.
Chatti's parents, after the announcement of the verdict, stated that they were counting on a more severe punishment. According to him, they hoped that Bisultanov would serve his sentence in prison.
«You can't accept that he managed to escape. What Bisultanov did to my son, I think, was a unique cruelty,» the Italian's father said.
The prosecution at the meeting held in Rome stated that Bisultanov, who has training in martial arts, killed Chatti intentionally. Records from CCTV cameras were attached to the case file, which, according to prosecutor Herminio Amelio, confirm the testimony of the Italian's friends. They said that Bisultanov behaved like a «mad bull» and finished off the lying Chatti with kicks to the head.
