
UN Feb 8 Switzerland is ready to help de-escalate the conflict in Ukraine , if the parties so wish, the country's permanent representative to the world organization, Pascal Christine Beriswil, said at a UN Security Council meeting.
«It is important to move towards a peaceful, just and lasting solution. To achieve this solution, we must rely on international law and diplomatic means. In this regard, if the parties wish, Switzerland is ready to lend its good offices and support the de-escalation,» said Christine Berisville.
She pointed out that «the neutrality of Switzerland cannot be called into question.» However, she added that «there can be no neutrality when international law is violated or when the UN Charter is violated.»
