WASHINGTON, Mar 6 White House Press Secretary Karine Jean- Pierre declined to explain why U.S. sanctions bypassed Russian entrepreneurs Vladimir Yevtushenkov and Elena Baturina, who allegedly had business ties with U.S. President's son Hunter Biden.
Last week, the pro-Republican New York Post tabloid claimed, citing unnamed sources, that Yevtushenkov and Baturina not only contacted Hunter Biden about buying commercial real estate in the United States, but also dined with his father Joe Biden, who in those years post of US Vice President.
«I just don't speak out from here on any topics related to his (Biden's) son,» Jean-Pierre replied to a journalist who was interested in why Yevtushenkov and Baturina were not on the sanctions lists.
«As for any sanctions, I'm not talking about any specific individuals from Russia,» she added.
All questions regarding the president's son, who is known for his wild lifestyle and is suspected of «influence peddling» by his father's political opponents, the White House press secretary forwarded to the family.
Biden insists that his son did nothing wrong and that he himself has nothing to do with his entrepreneurial activities.
The West stepped up sanctions pressure on Russia over Ukraine, which led to an increase in prices for electricity, fuel and food products in Europe and the USA. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously stated that the policy of containment and weakening of Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people. The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that Russia will solve all the problems that the West creates for it.
