The government proposed to collect a one-time tax from large businesses; oil and gas and coal companies will be released from it

Single tax feein the budget, which the Russian authorities are going to collect from large businesses, will not affect oil and gas and coal companies, said Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Sazonov, his words are reported by Interfax.

Under the so-called Windfall tax, windfall tax, “everything falls except for oil and gas, coal, SMEs and net pre-tax profit for 2021-2022 is less than 1 billion rubles. This is an exception, everyone else gets it, and then whoever has an increase will pay the tax, whoever doesn’t, he won’t,” Sazonov said.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister stressed that he had not yet heard of such exceptions. Earlier, The Bell reported that the government offered businesses to make a one-time payment to the budget of 200-250 billion rubles. In February, Finance Minister Andrey Siluanov clarified that an additional mandatory fee from large businesses in the amount of about 300 billion rubles would not be “voluntary”, but tax.

Head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin said that the decision to collection “is due to a unique combination of favorable operating conditions and conjuncture in a number of sectors, which made it possible to obtain financial results in 2022 and 2021 that are stronger than in the previous couple of years.”
