The website of the European Space Agency reports that 2023 DW was opened on February 26 this year. He took first place in the list of space objects that could potentially have an impact on the Earth.
«Usually, when new objects are first discovered, it takes several weeks to collect data in order to reduce the error and adequately predict their orbits for years to come,» NASA added.

The diameter of the asteroid is about 50 meters, that is, approximately equal to the length of the Olympic pool, and its next potential collision with the Earth will occur no earlier than two decades later — on Valentine's Day in 2046. At the same time, the probability of falling is estimated as 1 in 607.
According to Italian astronomer Piero Sicoli, in the event of a disaster in 2023, DW could fall anywhere from the Indian Ocean to the US East Coast.
