On March 17, the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria re-examined the case of abuse of power with the use of violence and a bribe against policeman Beslan Kagermazov and released him from punishment, the press service of the court told the Caucasian Knot.
The court decided to limit Kagermazov's punishment to the time already served. In total, the police officer spent 2 years and 10 months in custody. Earlier, the Prokhladnensky District Court sentenced the policeman to 4.5 years in prison (parts 1 and 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code, parts 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code and part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code), initially the Supreme Court of the Republic left the sentence unchanged, but in November the Fifth Cassation Court in Pyatigorsk overturned the verdict and returned the case for a new trial.
As follows from the verdict, in June 2017, the drug control officer of the Prokhladnensky department, Kagermazov, inspected the tractor without attesting witnesses and drawing up an act on the land plot of entrepreneur Bashorov. In response to the objections of Bashorov, who arrived in the field, Kagermazov punched him in the chest, causing the entrepreneur to fall back on the hood of the car, after which the policeman hit him several more times, grabbed him by the neck and began to choke him.
Also, Kagermazov, according to the court, beat a taxi driver and extorted 300 thousand rubles from two suspects in drug possession cases. The state prosecutor did not agree with the verdict and asked that the policeman be sentenced to 10 years in prison with a fine of 15 times the amount of the bribe. The defense asked to justify Kagermazov, he himself did not admit guilt.
