Another «celestial» brand has recently entered the Russian market, we are talking about Kaiyi, the assembly of cars for the Russian Federation was established at the Avtotor Kaliningrad plant. Earlier, Kolesa.ru told in more detail about the history of the appearance of the brand: it can be considered the successor of the Cowin brand, created by Chery in 2014 for budget cars. The first models of the «new era» were the Showjet compact cross (it has several more modifications) and the Xuandu sedan; they are Chery Tiggo 5x (in Russia it is Tiggo 4) and old Chery Arrizo 7 respectively. Last summer, Kaiyi showed five future cars (of varying degrees of completion). One of the models of the «new wave» was the Kunlun crossover: the model debuted in the fall of 2022, and is now on sale in the home market.
In the Celestial Empire, a 197-horsepower TGDI turbo engine with a volume of 1.6 liters is offered as the base one, the richer versions have a 2.0-liter TGDI engine under the hood, its power is 254 hp. In addition, the Chinese will be offered several options for plug-in hybrids. The power plant is based on a 1.5-liter “turbo-four”, working in tandem with electric motors; for versions with front-wheel drive, the total output is 204 hp, with full — 367 hp. Range on a single charge when driving purely electric ranges from 110 to 260 km.
< p>Now the prices of this novelty are revealed. The cost of Kaiyi Kunlun with gasoline engines in China ranges from 99,900 to 149,900 yuan, which is equivalent to about 1.12-1.68 million rubles at the current exchange rate. And for hybrid crossovers (they are still accepting pre-orders) you will have to pay from 159,900 to 239,900 yuan (corresponds to about 1.79-2.69 million rubles).
The new SUV is based on the i-FA modular platform (most likely, this is an upgraded version of one of the Chery architectures). The length of the Kunlun crossover is 4738 mm, the width is 1968 mm, the height is 1708 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2820 mm. The car is offered with a cabin designed for both five and seven riders.

The list of features of the Kaiyi Kunlun's appearance includes diode running lights that visually form an «X», a large radiator grille with a pattern resembling plates, like the Hyundai Tucson, along the upper edge of the «grill» there is a separate luminous strip connecting the headlights. The profile was “decorated” with retractable door handles, as well as traditional exterior mirrors on separate legs; and in the lower part of the stern, attention is drawn to the exposed round exhaust pipes (a pair on each side). In the cabin, a virtual “tidy”, a large touchscreen infotainment system, a steering wheel with a truncated bottom.
Kaiyi Kunlun should appear on the Russian market before the end of this year, but under the name X7 Kunlun; the assembly will be adjusted in the Russian Federation. Recall that Avtotor received the right to distribute Kaiyi products in Russia and a number of CIS countries. The first-born of the brand here was the Kaiyi E5 sedan assembled in Kaliningrad, in the future several crossovers will appear on the conveyor: in addition to the already mentioned SUV, this is the Kaiyi X3 (aka Showjet in China, made from Chery Tiggo 4) and X3 Pro (a variation of the first, but with its own design ).
