GROZNY, March 23 Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov was elected Chairman of the Congress of the People of Chechnya, the unanimous decision was made by the participants of the congress, the correspondent reports.
The congress is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the nationwide referendum in Chechnya and the adoption of the republic's constitution. Work on the new constitution was carried out by the constitutional commission of Chechnya and was completed on July 10, 2002. The option proposed by the head of the administration of the republic, Akhmat Kadyrov, was taken as a basis.
Participants of the congress also adopted a resolution in which they declared that the course of the current President of Russia Vladimir Putin is aimed at consolidating the multinational people of Russia, preserving the integrity and sovereignty of the country, as well as strengthening its security and defense capability.

The final document notes the need to consolidate the efforts of the Chechen society for the further socio-economic development of the region, strengthen the foundations of national identity, maintain a calm socio-political situation and conditions for a safe and comfortable life, while concentrating efforts on promising areas of development.
