
DONETSK, March 25 A man was injured as a result of an explosion of an anti-personnel mine «Petal» in the village of Blizhne, the DPR representative office at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues reported related to war crimes in Ukraine (JCCC).
«On the operational lines of the DPR JCCC, on March 25, additional information was received about victims among civilians in the cities of the Republic: the settlement of Blizhnee (included in the area of responsibility of the administration of the Volnovakha district): — on the road leading to the village of Blizhnee as a result of an explosion on a mine PFM «Lepestok «A man born in 1988 was injured,» the representative office said in a telegram channel.
Anti-personnel high-explosive mine (PFM-1) «Petal» is designed to damage the legs and is triggered when a person steps on it. It is installed on the ground by remote means of mining. It is almost an exact copy of the American mine BLU-43/B (Dragontooth). The representative office of the DPR in the JCCC has repeatedly recorded the use of cluster munitions equipped with mines «Lepestok» by Ukrainian troops in the cities of the republic.
The Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN earlier circulated in the Security Council a letter on the use of anti-personnel mines «Petal» by Kiev against the civilian population in the Donbass. The letter, among other things, was sent to the UN Secretary General.
Ukraine in 2005 ratified the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, stockpiling and production of anti-personnel mines. Thus, Kiev violates its international obligations.
