WASHINGTON, Mar 26 — RIA Novosti. The US Department of Defense seeks to attract American start-ups from Silicon Valley to fulfill Pentagon contracts in order to keep the competition with China in the development of military technologies, writes the Wall Street Journal .
«The Pentagon seeks inclusion in the ranks of weapons manufacturers from Silicon Valley,» the publication says. As noted, the Ministry of Defense is trying to attract startups through funding to develop new military technologies.
According to the publication, at present, the American military-industrial industry has become dependent on a small number of the largest corporations, which causes concern and requires the search for new solutions for the needs of the Pentagon, including with the expectation of more «agile» suppliers.
According to the interlocutors of the newspaper, unlike the United States, China is much more actively attracting private companies to the development of new types of weapons, and Beijing's injection into the technology sector already exceeds $1 trillion.
By comparison, venture capital investment in the US defense and aerospace sectors is now valued at $6 billion a year, up from $1 billion in 2017.
