The British brand MG, which is part of the Chinese automaker SAIC, has launched the spectacular mid-size liftback MG 7, the first-born sports car, on sale in the Chinese market. MG Black Label line. Prices start at 119,800 yuan (1.34 million rubles in current exchange rates).
In the Chinese MG link, there was already model number 7 — this was the name of the mid-size sedan, which was produced from 2007 to 2013 and was a badge-engineered version of the Rover 75 — a car developed under the patronage of BMW in the second half of the 90s. Today, against the background of successful sales in China and Europe, MG is remembering its historical roots and is increasingly focusing on sports: the Cyberster electric roadster is expected to premiere in April, and the MG 7 sports liftback went on sale this week — about six months later than planned initially, because the premiere of MG 7 took place last summer.

The MG 7 is a rather large mid-size front-wheel drive liftback with frameless side door windows and a coupe-like stern. An active sliding spoiler is integrated into the large tailgate, which generates additional downforce at speeds over 100 km/h. Engines — gasoline supercharged from the Blue Core family with a displacement of 1.5 or 2.0 liters, both are equipped with a turbocharger with variable guide vane geometry. The 1.5-liter engine produces 188 hp. and 300 Nm and is paired with a 7-speed DCT «robot» (with two clutches). 2.0-liter engine with a return of 261 hp and 405 Nm is combined with a new 9-speed «automatic» of SAIC's own design, in the top version of the Trophy + for 169,800 yuan (1.9 million rubles), it comes with an electronically controlled self-locking differential and adaptive shock absorbers. With a 2.0-liter engine, the liftback accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, the maximum speed is 230 km/h.
The interior of the MG 7 offers deliberately bright colors and premium trim materials. The front panel is equipped with a massive 33-inch scoreboard, which combines a multimedia screen (12.3 inches), instrument panel (10.25 inches) and a touch key block on the left side. Next to the automatic transmission selector is a large diamond-shaped engine start button. At full mince, the MG 7 boasts a 14-speaker Bose audio system, a 1.8 m2 panoramic glass roof and a full range of electronic driver assistants. Trunk capacity — 375 liters.
It is curious that in China, MG promises the first 15,000 buyers «sevens» a lifetime warranty on the main components and assemblies, plus a bunch of branded gifts. that the sporty spirit of the British brand will return here only with the Cyberster roadster.
