MOSCOW, 2 Apr. Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk reacted rudely to a letter from German Social Democrats to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz with a call to promote the settlement of the conflict in the Eastern European country through dialogue.
«Hello, Peter Brandt and others, go to hell,» — the Ukrainian diplomat wrote on Twitter.
He called the call for a ceasefire «senile» and said that Ukrainians reject such initiatives.
Earlier, the son of former German Chancellor Willy Brandt, historian Peter Brandt, wrote an open letter to the Prime Minister Olaf Scholz, who was supported by 200 members of the Social Democratic Party. It refers to the need to promote peace talks to resolve the situation in Ukraine. The drafters of the appeal indicate that the majority of German citizens do not support the endless unwinding of the «spiral of violence», and instead of the primacy of militarism, the language of diplomacy and peace is needed.
