
HELSINKI Apr 4 Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto in Brussels signed an agreement on the country's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, follows from the broadcast of the event by the Finnish media.
The signing took place in a small office of the Finnish representation of NATO in Brussels, opposite the NATO headquarters. On the table were the flags of NATO, Finland, the EU and a bouquet of white flowers.
«The atmosphere, of course, is expected,» said Haavisto.
It is expected that at 15.30 Moscow time the Finnish minister will signed document to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. After that, Finland will officially become the 31st member of NATO.
