
BELGRADE, Apr 6 Russian culture cannot be «cancelled» due to its scale, depth and achievements, Serbian filmmaker and musician Emir Kusturica said at 90th anniversary of the founding of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) «Russian House» in Belgrade, which is a representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo.
At the opening of the celebration on Thursday, along with the leadership of Russian diplomatic missions in Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, there were the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Evgeny Primakov, Minister of Health Danica Grujicic, Director of the Serbian Post Zoran Djordjevic and other officials, representatives of public organizations, Russian and Serbian companies.
Kusturica arrived at the celebration in a cast and on crutches, he is recovering from a broken leg. Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko presented him with the medal «Great Russian writer F.M. Dostoevsky 1821 — 2021» from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
“I am very happy that my name is associated with the person who discovered the deepest human secrets and one of those who now do not allow the abandonment of culture in Western Europe. Without such people, they would easily destroy culture. Thanks to the scale , depth and achievements and timeless value of Russian culture can never be denied», — said the famous director at the award.
The Serbian Post issued a special edition of stamps for the 90th anniversary of the Russian House, which were presented to the audience.
The musical part of the festive program includes concerts by the famous vocalist Irina Krutova, a performer of Russian romances, and the outstanding virtuoso pianist Boris Berezovsky.
