Fragment of an ancient wooden pipeline found in St. Petersburg

< br />

MOSCOW, 8 Apr. A fragment of an 18th-century wooden pipeline was found in the Northern Capital, according to the VKontakte page of the Vodokanal of St. Petersburg.
We came across him during the reconstruction of water supply networks near Narvskaya metro station.
The first water supply systems in St. Petersburg actually appeared from the day of its foundation and were a luxury. In 1739, it began to be fed from the Ligovsky Canal through wooden underground pipes. They were made from drilled logs 6 inches (15.24 centimeters) wide.

Then some lines were laid. But still they were not enough to provide water to the entire population of the city.
