MOSCOW, 10 Apr. ABBA guitarist Lasse Wellander has died of cancer at the age of 70, Metro reports, citing a statement from the musician's family.

«It is with indescribable sadness that we must report that our beloved Lasse has fallen asleep. Recently it became known that he was ill with cancer, which spread rapidly. Early in the morning on Good Friday, Wellander died surrounded by loved ones,» the musician's family said.
The guitarist began working with the famous Swedish band in 1974. He has featured on 24 songs and eight of the band's albums, including ABBA Voyage, which was released in 2021.
Lasse Wellander has also performed with other Swedish musicians and released solo records. The guitarist's latest album, Simple Ticket, was released in 2006.
Last year, he also released the singles O Come, All Ye Faithfull, Merry-Go-Round and Overdrive.
