Saudi Arabia and Syria plan to restore consular services and resume flights. Appropriate measures were announced after the meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries.
The visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad to Saudi Arabia was the first official visit by a Syrian representative to the kingdom since the outbreak of the conflict in the SAR in 2011.
According to the SPA agency, the Saudi Foreign Ministry invited Miqdad to discuss a political solution to the crisis in Syria and the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland. «The parties welcome the commencement of procedures to restore consular services and flights between the two countries,» according to a joint statement released by SPA.
These actions could help strengthen ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria and help preserve unity of the territory of Syria.
