Swedish police have detained a Russian woman suspected of industrial espionage at the Preem oil refinery in Gothenburg. This was reported by TV4, citing its sources, Meduza drew attention to the publication.
Local prosecutor James von Reis confirmed the information about the detention, while refusing to comment on the question of the nationality of the suspect. He also stressed that the case does not concern Swedish national security issues. The press secretary of the State Security Service of the country, Gabriel Wernshted, in a conversation with the Goteborgs-Posten newspaper, added that his department was not involved in this case.
The arrest itself took place on the evening of April 13th. A representative of the company Preem said that the detainee worked for a subcontractor of the organization. The motives of her act are being investigated, now the case is at an early stage of investigation.
