Two planes loaded with Russian nuclear fuel left Finland

Two aircraft with Russian-made nuclear fuel left Finland, Petteri Tiippan, a spokesman for the Finnish Center for Radiation Safety, said on Twitter. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

According to him, the flight took place on Saturday evening from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. However, he did not name the destination.

Russia is sending its nuclear fuel through Finland for at least the third time. For the first time such a shipment was carried out in November 2022, the second time — in March 2023. Such a scheme is used in the conditions of interrupted air communication between Russia and Europe.

In early March, the Finnish energy concern Fortum noted that it continues to purchase nuclear fuel from Rosatom for its Loviisa nuclear power plant.
