NEW DELHI, Apr 17 Russia is ready for a serious expansion of cooperation with India in all promising areas in the field of peaceful atom, Deputy Prime Minister Denis, head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, told reporters Manturov.
«For our part, we are ready for a serious expansion of cooperation with the Indian side in all promising areas in the field of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes,» he said.
Manturov recalled that this year the Russian Federation and India are celebrating the anniversary of cooperation in nuclear energy — 35 years. Now the industry is actively implementing a joint project — the Kudankulam NPP: power units 1 and 2 have already generated 77 billion kWh of electricity, the construction of units 3, 4, 5 and 6 is progressing.
«We are awaiting the decision of the Government of India to provide us with a second site for the serial construction of Russian-designed NPPs, in addition to the Kudankulam NPP,» he added.
Rosatom State Corporation is discussing with India the possibility of building six more nuclear power units with a capacity of 1200 MW each in the country, in addition to the Kudankulam nuclear power plant site, Nikolay Spassky, Deputy General Director — Director of Rosatom's International Activities Block, said at the end of December 2022.
Russia is one of India's key partners in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
