FFKKR on Monday announced the appointment of Sikharulidze as Acting President of the organization. In December 2022, the Director General of the FFKKR Alexander Kogan became the acting President. Previously, the head of the organization was Alexander Gorshkov, who died in mid-November.

The candidacy of Sikharulidze, who is the vice-president of the FFKKR and the president of the Figure Skating Federation of St. Petersburg, was unanimously supported by the members of the executive committee of the organization. According to the charter of the FFKKR, the president of the federation is elected at the reporting and election conference, which takes place every four years. The next reporting and election conference should be held in 2026.
