
ANKARA, Apr 19 Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Fatih Donmez said in an interview with TRT Haber that he is waiting for the discovery of new gas and oil fields in the Black Sea, according to him, the potential for this exists.
In 2020, a gas field was discovered in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey, the volume of which was estimated at 540 billion cubic meters. Then President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called it the largest in the country. He also announced the discovery of another field with a volume of 58 billion cubic meters, and the total reserves of the Black Sea gas, according to him, have reached 710 billion cubic meters and are worth $ 1 trillion on international markets. Speaking in parliament, Erdogan said that the gas produced by Turkey on the Black Sea shelf will begin to flow into the national distribution system on April 20.
«The Black Sea holds great potential. It also holds promise for the steps we will take from now on. During the year we will continue to work on the Sakarya gas field. Then we can move on to the middle part of the Black Sea «, Donmez said in an interview with TRT Haber.
Earlier, Melih Khan Bilgin, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Turkish Oil Corporation Turkish Petroleum (TPAO), said that Turkey sees good potential in the current market conditions for its Black Sea gas to enter European markets.
