Artificial intelligence is coming to the fore today, including in the military sphere, columnist David Narmania writes in his article for RIA Novosti.
According to the author, the military mainly uses AI in intelligence and target recognition.
He reports that the program currently being used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine was created by the American company Clearview AI.
Narmania also pointed out that the Russian “Perimeter” system is called “Dead Hand” in the West. «Perimeter» is a complex for automatic control of a massive retaliatory nuclear strike. In case of war, its main goal is to destroy the control centers. “The task is to decapitate the enemy troops and prevent them from reacting,” the author notes.
Narmania told how it was programmed.
Having found signs of a nuclear strike, the «perimeter» sends a request to the General Staff. In the absence of an answer, it turns to another strategic missile control system — Kazbek. It is «Kazbek» that is in the nuclear briefcase, which is carried by an officer in a naval uniform next to the President of Russia.
If «Kazbek» is not recalled, «Perimeter» makes a decision on its own. But in order to make this decision, the system must be convinced of a nuclear bombardment — it does this through its sensors. And only then, having made sure that the strikes were made, «Perimeter» launches ballistic control missiles.
“In other words, vengeance is guaranteed,” the author sums up.
Vasily, Doctor of Technical Sciences Burenok called the new “eyes” of the military the American Project Maven system. It is capable of processing colossal volumes of video materials and photographs from satellites and drones.
Now a system is being developed, thanks to which the drone will be able to switch to autonomous mode — select the objects of tracking, analyze the data.
In the article the importance of UAVs is noted, especially in the conflict in Ukraine. But for now, drones are led by people. This function is proposed to be given to artificial intelligence. According to the author, citing experts, the further development of AI “could lead to a revolution in military affairs, comparable to the invention of gunpowder and nuclear weapons.”
Narmania also recalls that Russian President Vladimir Putin said 6 years ago that whoever becomes the leader in the field of artificial intelligence will be the ruler of the world.
