St. Petersburg, Apr 28 First Russian parliamentarians considered it their highest duty to live and work for the sake of their homeland, fervently and sincerely defended the interests of people, cared for the people's welfare, sought to benefit their native country, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
«Indeed, many of your predecessors, the first Russian parliamentarians, ardently and sincerely defended the interests of the people, cared for the people's welfare, sought to benefit their native country, considered it their highest duty and vocation to live and work for the sake of their homeland,» Putin said at the meeting of the Council of Legislators.
The President added that such patriotic ideals are important at all times, especially for Russia, a country of civilization, one of the original, sovereign centers of the vast, multipolar world.
