Igor Zorin, detained in the case of preparing explosions in Crimea, was a co-founder of four legal entities with an ex-United Russia arrested for treason

Diver Igor Zorin, one of the defendants in the case of preparations for explosions and assassination attempts on officials in the annexed Crimea, whose detention was announced today by the FSB, was a co-founder of several public organizations together with former Yalta City Council deputy Yuriy Lomenko, who has been in prison since November 2021 under arrest on charges of treason. Zorin is listed in the database as a co-founder of four legal entities — the Crimean regional branch of the Confederation of underwater activities of Russia, the Crimean regional public organization of historical research and archeology lovers «Aquatex», the Yalta local public organization «National-cultural autonomy "Ukrainians of Yalta"» and the Crimean regional public organization for the development of underwater sports and tourism «Akvasfera».

The Crimean branch of the Confederation of Underwater Activities of Russia and Aquatex were liquidated in September 2020 and August 2021, respectively. In an interview with NCrim.Ru, Zorin said that he worked as the technical director of both organizations. In September 2021, the NCA «Ukrainians of Yalta» was also liquidated. At the time of Zorin's detention, of the legal entities in which he was listed as a co-founder, only one operated — Aquasfera.

Liquidatorthree closed organizations, according to the SPARK database, were Yuri Lomenko; he was the co-founder of all four legal entities and, according to Zorin, the head of Aquatex. Lomenko completed the liquidation of the “Ukrainians of Yalta” two months before his arrest under the article on treason.

Lomenko was the secretary of the village council of Simeiz, and after the murder of the local head Kirill Kostenko in 2013, he was promoted to the vacant post from the pro-Russian Party of Regions and won the election. In 2019, after the annexation of Crimea, Lomenko was elected to the Yalta City Council from United Russia. In 2020, he was awarded the State Duma medal.

Despite his career success, at the end of October 2021, a month before his arrest, Lomenko filed an application for resignation of the deputy.

On November 10, FSB operatives detained him. The intelligence service claimed that in 2017-2018, a Crimean citizen collected and transferred secret information to Ukraine, including about the FSB officers themselves. The case against Lomenko is being investigated under the article on treason.

Detained by the FSB Igor Zorin, they write “Crimea. Realii”, before the annexation of Crimea, was a deputy of the Yalta City Council, “in 2013 he ran as a non-partisan candidate for the mayor of Yalta, but withdrew his candidacy due to “the complete absence of the opportunity to conduct his own election campaign.” After that, he did not engage in politics and focused on projects related to diving, underwater tourism and marine archeology.
